چکیده
Background: A demyelinating lesion can present as a space occupying in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) brain. Lesions that have diameter greater than 2 cm is referred tumefactive lesion. These lesions mimic brain tumor, namely glioma or primary central nervous system lymphoma. Case presentation: We two female patients over 30 years old who presented with limb weakness. Their MRI demonstrated typical appearance of solitary, incomplete rim enhancing involved the subcortical white matter minimal mass effect. Also, enhancement opened to grey matter. Due their appearance, biopsy was not performed. The both reduced size upon follow up after treatment commencement and currently recovering. Conclusion: In this case report, we focus on discussing features its main differentials, which are lymphoma (CNSL) glioma.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Characteristics of Tumefactive Demyelinating Lesions
Tumefactive demyelinating lesions (TDLs) are often misdiagnosed as brain tumors. To identify imaging characteristics of TDLs for their proper diagnosis, their differences from malignant gliomas, etc., were investigated based on 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and MR spectroscopy data that was obtained from 5 patients diagnosed with TDLs in our hospital. MRI displayed a paraventricular ...

A previously healthy 31-year-old woman presented with a 2-week history of progressive left hemiparesis. MRI (figure) demonstrated a 3 cm enhancing mass in the right posterior frontal white matter with several smaller lesions in the white matter of the contralateral hemisphere and brainstem (figure, D). A stereotactic biopsy of the large lesion was performed to establish the diagnosis. This show...

basic physical principles of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (n.m.r.i), a nonionizing medical imaging technique, are described. principles of nmri with other conventional imaging methods, ie, isotope scanning, ultrasonography and radiography have been compared. t1 and t2 and spin density (s.d.) factors and different image construction techniques based on their different combinations is discu...
متن کاملProton magnetic resonance spectroscopy and diffusion-weighted imaging of tumefactive demyelinating plaque.
Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, diffusion-weighted axonography, and diffusion tensor tractography in a patient with tumefactive demyelination plaque (TDP) were evaluated for differential diagnosis from glioblastoma. The findings of glutamate and glutamine elevations on magnetic resonance spectroscopy and apparent tracts within the lesion on axonography and tractography were unlikely to ...
